Install Mirepoix on your device
Install Mirepoix as an app on your phone, tablet, or computer. Installed, it opens full screen. On iPhone and iPad, and on a Mac when you add it to the Dock from Safari, it keeps its own recipes saved for offline reading, separate from the ones Safari saved.
Install it
Tap mirepoix in the top corner to open the menu, then tap Install app. What happens next depends on your device:
- Android, or Chrome on a computer. The browser asks right away whether to install. Confirm, and Mirepoix lands with your other apps.
- iPhone or iPad. A short note reminds you of the gesture: tap the Share button, then choose Add to Home Screen.
- Mac, in Safari. A short note points you to Safari’s File menu, where you choose Add to Dock. It’s also in the toolbar’s Share menu.
The Install app item only shows where installing is possible, so if you don’t see it, either Mirepoix is already installed or your browser can’t install it.
Why install
- On iPhone, iPad, and a Mac’s Dock, offline recipes are saved per app. An app installed from Safari there and Safari itself each keep their own saved recipes. Opening Mirepoix in one doesn’t fill the other, so a newly installed app starts empty and saves your recipes again on its first visit with a signal. Safari clears the recipes a browser tab saved after about a week of not visiting; that clearing is about the browser’s own set. Either set is what you read without a signal.
- On iPhone and iPad, sign-ins are separate too. An installed app there signs in on its own, so signing into it leaves Safari signed in, and signing out of one doesn’t touch the other. Each shows as its own row under Where you’re signed in.
- It opens full screen. No browser bars — just Mirepoix, like any other app.
- Sharing to Mirepoix works on Android. Once Mirepoix is on your home screen, it shows up in the system Share sheet, so you can share a recipe link straight to it. Not on iPhone or iPad — Safari doesn’t let an installed web app join the Share sheet, so paste the link to Mirabel there instead. See importing by sharing.
