Creating a kitchen

A kitchen is a recipe collection — your own, or shared with the people you cook with. Start one with an invite code from the operator (during the Friends Beta) or from the kitchen form directly once signups are open.

Before you start

If you’re already signed in to a kitchen, sign out first. The kitchen-creation form redirects signed-in members straight back to their kitchen.

  1. Open the link you were sent.
  2. mirepoix pre-fills the Invite code field. Enter your name, email, and a kitchen name.
  3. Tick the box agreeing that mirepoix keeps your recipes private and won’t sell them or use them to train AI. The box links to the Terms and the Data and privacy practices — open either to read the full text.
  4. Tap Create Kitchen.

mirepoix emails you an 8-character code and shows the Check your email page. Your kitchen isn’t created yet — this step confirms you own the email address.

With just the phrase

If you got the four-word phrase but no link, build the URL yourself: mirepoix.recipes/i/<phrase>, with hyphens between the words and everything in lowercase. For “buttery shallot rosemary risotto,” that’s mirepoix.recipes/i/buttery-shallot-rosemary-risotto. Open it and the form opens with the phrase pre-filled. Visiting /new directly without a code returns a 404 during the Friends Beta.

When signups are open

If mirepoix.recipes isn’t gated by invites, visit /new and fill the form — no code field appears. The same consent box applies; tick it, tap Create Kitchen, then verify your email as below.

Verify your email

  1. Open your inbox and copy the 8-character code.
  2. Back in mirepoix, paste it into the Sign-in code field and tap Sign in.

Your kitchen is created and you land in it as the owner, signed in. The email you verified is now your sign-in identity. The code lasts 10 minutes and works once — if it expires, fill the form again to get a new one.

If something goes wrong

What you see What it means
Page not found. after opening the link The code is either already used or doesn’t match a valid invite. Check the phrase in the URL for typos; if it’s right, ask the operator for a fresh one (each invite is one-time-use).
Invalid or already-used invite code. The phrase didn’t match an unused code. Check the spelling — four words, hyphens or spaces both work.
Name is required. Fill in the Your name field before submitting.
The code didn’t arrive or stopped working Codes go to the email you typed and last 10 minutes. Check spam, then fill the form again for a fresh one. See Signing in.
