Deleting your account

Delete your account from the Settings page. It’s a two-step flow — request, then verify by email — and there’s no undo.

Request the deletion code

  1. Open Settings and scroll to Delete account.
  2. Tap Delete my account… to expand the confirmation form.
  3. Type your account email address to confirm.
  4. Tap Send confirmation code.

mirepoix sends an 8-character code to your account email and replaces the form with a code-entry box. The code expires in 15 minutes.

Verify the code

  1. Open the email titled Confirm Mirepoix account deletion.
  2. Copy the 8-character code.
  3. Paste it into Confirmation code on the Settings page.
  4. Tap Confirm and delete my account.

mirepoix deletes your account, signs you out, and redirects you to the sign-in page with the message Your account has been deleted.

What gets deleted

Everything tied to your identity goes:

What stays

Recipes, meal plans, pantry entries, and other content you contributed to a kitchen stay. That content belongs to the kitchen, not to you, and the remaining members keep working with it.

Other people’s accounts are untouched. Invitations you sent stay valid too — those are tied to the recipient’s email, not to who sent them.

When you’re the only owner of a kitchen

If you’re the only owner of any kitchen, the deletion form refuses with Can’t delete your account yet. You’re the sole owner of: and lists each blocking kitchen as a link to its homepage.

You have two options for each one. Open the kitchen, then either promote another member to owner via Members → Make owner, or delete the kitchen via Settings → Delete $kitchen. Once every blocking kitchen has another owner (or no longer exists), come back and request the deletion code again.

The same check runs again when you submit the code. If you become the sole owner of another kitchen in the interim — say, a co-owner leaves before you verify — the verification refuses too:

Your account can’t be deleted right now — you’ve become the sole owner of a kitchen since this code was issued. Promote another owner there or delete that kitchen first, then request a new deletion code.

Resolve the new block, then request a fresh code.

When the code stops working

The code expires 15 minutes after you tap Send confirmation code. If you wait too long, mirepoix shows Invalid or expired code. Try again or start over. Request a fresh one — the old code can’t be revived.

You can request up to three deletion codes in any 24-hour window. Past that, the form returns a rate-limit response. Wait, then try again.

Coming back later

There’s no recovery path. A deleted account is gone for good — no admin “undelete,” no support ticket. If you decide to use Mirepoix again, sign up fresh; your old email address is available the moment the deletion completes.
